Because of a water main break Thursday in the Kaumana area of Hilo, a water shutoff has been ordered for Hawaii County Department of Water Supply customers.
The shutoff impacts customers in the Sunrise Estates, Sunrise Ridge, and Hilo Hillside subdivisions; all subdivisions, side streets and private roads along Kaumana Drive from Chong to Pilialoha streets; as well as all services along Chong Street from Naauao to Lewa Nuu streets, including Lawelawe Circle; and Nowelo Street extension (mauka of Komohana Street).
Customers in the affected area may experience lower than normal or no water pressure during the repairs. At this time, repairs are expected to be finished by 8:00 p.m. Until further notice, customers are advised to restrict water use to essential needs.
